Protecting Youth & Countering Cultural Sexualization
The church recognizes the growing cultural problem of the early sexualization of children and teenagers.
Sexual content, ideologies, and expectations are being introduced at increasingly younger ages—before emotional maturity, moral grounding, or spiritual formation are established.
Scripture places a high value on innocence, protection, and moral instruction for the young.
The premature elevation of sexuality robs children of developmental safety, distorts identity, and exposes them to confusion and exploitation. Rather than guarding youth, modern culture often pressures them toward adult behaviors without adult responsibility.
Modern dating culture has also promoted sexual experimentation without accountability or commitment. Rather than preparing young people for marriage, such practices frequently cultivate promiscuity, emotional bonding without permanence, and repeated relational fracture.
In light of these concerns, our church does not encourage youth to engage in dating or premarital romantic relationships during adolescence. The adolescent years already involve significant biological, emotional, and psychological development, and introducing romantic pressures during this formative period often complicates rather than strengthens personal growth. Instead, we encourage adolescents and teenagers to focus on their relationship with God and on the character and identity He is forming within them before seeking to add another person to their life. As Scripture wisely instructs, “Do not awaken love before its time” (Song of Solomon 2:7; 3:5; 8:4).
By allowing young people the freedom to mature spiritually, emotionally, and personally, we help prepare them for healthy relationships in the future that are grounded in wisdom, self-control, and God’s timing.
The church stands as a countercultural witness, affirming chastity, self-control, and holiness as virtues—not repression.
At the same time, the church proclaims the grace of the gospel. No sexual sin places a person beyond redemption. Healing, renewal, and restoration are available through Jesus Christ for all who repent and turn to Him in faith.
As a church, we commit to teaching biblical sexual ethics, protecting the young, preserving youthful innocence, supporting families, and extending grace and restoration to all.
