Sonia Byrnes is passionate about helping the Body of Christ enter into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus—one she personally nurtures and relies on every day. Raised in a Christian home devoted to Scripture and faithful church life, Sonia grew up with a strong foundation but longed for more than routine or religion. That longing was answered in 2009, when she moved to New York and encountered the Holy Spirit in a fresh, powerful, and deeply personal way. She discovered God not only as Lord, but as a loving Father who desires real connection with His children.

As a founding member of TORCC New York, Sonia has been instrumental in shaping the heart and flow of our church. She plays a vital role in Sunday services, events, and cultivating genuine connection within our church family. If you’re new to TORCC, you’ve likely already been welcomed by her warm smile and gentle spirit—Sonia makes sure the door is always open to those who knock.

Sonia serves faithfully in ministry alongside her husband, Pastor Tim Byrnes. Together, they embody steadfast leadership, pastoral care, and a sincere love for God’s people.

Beyond her ministry role, Sonia is a respected teacher, adjudicator, and leader in the arts community of both TORCC NY and New York City. She works in the Education Department of American Ballet Theatre, serves as a faculty member in the ABT JKO School, and sits on the Artistic Board of Examiners. In 2016, she founded Sojo Performing Arts School, a nurturing dance environment where children of all ages can learn ballet with encouragement, discipline, and joy. Sonia is committed to seeing the arts redeemed and restored to their original purpose—glorifying God in both the Church and the world.
