Homosexuality
Scripture teaches that God created humanity male and female and established sexual union as a gift to be expressed only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27; 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6). This design reflects God’s created order, purposes human flourishing, and serves as the biblical foundation for marriage and sexuality.
Homosexual practice stands in opposition to this design by rejecting the sexual complementarity established by God. Scripture consistently identifies same-sex sexual behavior as contrary to God’s will and to nature as He designed it (Romans 1:26–27). As with all sexual activity outside biblical marriage, homosexual practice is rooted in desire rather than covenant and therefore cannot be affirmed as morally acceptable within or outside the Church.
Marriage is a divine institution established by God and is not subject to redefinition by culture or personal preference. Same-sex unions imitate the outward form of marriage while denying its God-ordained structure and meaning. For this reason, the Church does not recognize same-sex arrangements as legitimate expressions of marriage or covenantal sexuality.
Therefore, we reject homosexual practice as incompatible with biblical faith.
The Church is called to uphold the authority of Scripture and to proclaim God’s design for holiness, repentance, and obedience.
As with all sexual activity outside biblical marriage, homosexual practice cannot be affirmed as morally acceptable within or outside the Church. The Church does not redefine sin to accommodate cultural pressure but remains faithful to the teaching of Scripture regarding sexuality and marriage.
We affirm that sexual sin is not limited to one group of people. All humanity is fallen and in need of redemption, and all believers are called to holiness, self-denial, and obedience to Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5).
We believe in separating the person from their behavior—identity is different from behavior, and who we are is not defined by what we do. We reject the sin without rejecting the sinner. We come alongside all those who experience feelings of same-sex attraction and equip them not to live life dictated by their feelings, but to surrender them to God’s original purpose, design, and intent.
We affirm that all people are created in the image of God and are therefore deserving of dignity, compassion, and respect.
The Church does not single out homosexual sin above others. All people stand equally in need of God’s mercy and grace.
At the same time, we joyfully proclaim the grace of the gospel. Scripture declares that forgiveness, cleansing, and transformation are available to all who repent and turn to Jesus Christ. No sin places a person beyond redemption.
The transformative power of Jesus is available to all who desire it. Those who turn away from sin and submit to Christ will find mercy, restoration, and new life in Him. We are therefore committed to speaking truth in love, extending compassion without compromise, and walking patiently with all who seek to follow Christ in obedience and faith.
