In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas move from healing to purpose with the fish gate of Nehemiah 3. They explain that the fish gate supplied and fed the city, so the greatest healing is changing what supplies your life. Using Matthew 4:19, they show that Jesus said to Peter, follow me and I will make you fishers of men, forming his identity before giving an assignment. They connect this to neuroplasticity and discipleship as repeated obedience that creates new thinking, and to Jacob learning to walk anew after his hip was touched. Peter wanted the assignment without identity formation, and the hosts encourage listeners to let the Holy Spirit give them a new identity before a new assignment. They add that Jesus leads the sheep before He heals them, and that new mercies come as we are discipled into new responses.
