C.A.T.

Serving our community by provding support to the poor and needy.

Overview

C.A.T — Community Assistance Team — is the outreach arm of TORCC, affectionately known as “Street Church.”

This is where we step beyond the four walls and bring the love of Jesus directly to the streets.

Every Sunday at 6:00 AM, our team gathers to serve, pray, and feed those experiencing homelessness. We believe the Gospel is not only preached — it is demonstrated.

We don’t just hand out meals.

We share compassion.

We share prayer.

We share Christ.

“For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat…” — Matthew 25:35

Street Church is about:

C.A.T exists because the Church was never meant to stay comfortable — it was meant to move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Growing in faith starts with honest questions.
Here are some answers to help guide your journey.

What is C.A.T. and what is its purpose?

C.A.T., or Community Assistance Team, is the outreach arm of TORCC Sydney, affectionately known as “Street Church.” We step beyond the four walls of the church to bring the love of Jesus directly to the streets. Our purpose is to demonstrate the Gospel through action, serving those experiencing homelessness by feeding the hungry, building human connections, praying with those in need, offering dignity and hope, and being present where others might pass by. We believe the Church was never meant to stay comfortable—it was meant to move.

When and how often does Street Church take place?

Street Church happens every Sunday at 6:00 AM. Our team gathers weekly, rain or shine, to serve, pray, and feed those in need. This consistent commitment reflects our belief that the Gospel is in action every week.

What activities does the C.A.T. team do during outreach?

During our outreach, we go beyond just handing out meals—we share compassion, prayer, and Christ. This includes feeding the hungry with food (as inspired by Matthew 25:35: “For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat…”), building genuine human connections, praying with individuals in need, and offering dignity and hope to those experiencing homelessness.

Who can participate in Street Church?

We welcome those ready to step out and be present on the streets, sharing the love of Jesus with those in need. As we perform our ministries with integrity and accountability, we kindly request that all requests to serve be made to our leadership in order for us to continue serving effectively.

Why is Street Church called the “outreach arm” of TORCC Sydney?

We are called the outreach arm because we extend the mission of TORCC Sydney beyond traditional church settings into the streets. Our focus is on active demonstration of faith—feeding, connecting, praying, and offering hope—embodying the idea that the Gospel is not only preached but lived out in real, tangible ways for those who need it most.
